Is our number one priority
DAX - Crafted in Denmark
When we emphasize that DAX is proudly "Crafted in Denmark," it's not just a label; it's a commitment to quality and origin. Unlike many other products labeled as "Danish design," DAX is truly manufactured within our country's borders. In an era where the market is saturated with inexpensive goods often produced in Eastern Europe or Asia under unfavorable conditions, we take pride in assuring that every step of DAX's production adheres to both environmentally sustainable and ethically responsible practices.
This principled approach does come with a cost, but it's an investment that ensures the utmost in product excellence.
From Traditional Craftsmanship to Modern CNC Milling
Since Otto Olstrup handcrafted the first DAX sixty years ago, much has changed. Today, the components for DAX are precision-cut at LD Maskinsnedkeriet, a woodworking workshop located in Otterup. Utilizing advanced CNC milling technology, the individual pieces for DAX are meticulously carved with exceptional accuracy.
Exemplary Craftsmanship
The original design involved assembly using glue, dowels, and screws. However, through the refinement of 3-4 prototypes, screws and dowels have been replaced, and the nine components are now intricately joined through precisely milled tenons and grooves in the wood. In 2013, we received support from the Norwegian Agency for Research and Innovation to enhance the stool's design. This collaboration led us to make adjustments to how the tail and legs are integrated with the body, resulting in a sturdier structure and a more elegant aesthetic for DAX.
